The practice of making New Year’s resolutions goes back over 3,000 years to the ancient Babylonians. There is just something about the start of a new year that gives us the feeling of a fresh start and a new beginning. In reality, there is no difference between December 31 and January 1. Nothing mystical occurs at midnight on December 31. The Bible does not speak for or against the concept of New Year’s resolutions. However, if a Christian determines to make a New Year’s resolution, what kind of resolution should he or she make?
New Year Resolutions will you be making for 2024? Some folks will be addressing plans to quit smoking, stop drinking, spend more time with family. What’s on your agenda?
Some Christians may make New Year’s resolutions to pray more, to read the Bible every day, and to attend church more regularly. Philippians 4:13 tells us, “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”
If you’re wondering where to begin in drafting a personal plan of resolutions, you may want to consider talking to God about some of the basic and common needs in your own life and that of your family. Pray about everything. Search the Scriptures and scan how our biblical and spiritual heroes approached God and life in challenging times. Let God lead you as HE fills your mind and heart with some great ideas!
Avery blessed and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024 TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
