Ralph, “He’s just a dirty old man” that’s what Pearl “never minds her own business” Kauffman said last Tuesday to Jane Duman at the Walmart in Ephrata!
Healthy, respectful, playful and consensual sexual intercourse does not make one a dirty old man! Good sex gets better with age! It’s in the Bible, you should read it! The marital bed is undefiled. Romans 7:2, 1 Corinthians 7:10
But, I got to thinking, A DIRTY OLD MAN! What is a dirty old man? Let’s talk about that! If you engage in oral or anal sex with your spouse or partner, are YOU a dirty old man or a dirty old woman? What defines our sexual conduct behind closed doors? That all depends on your perspective and whether or not you are claiming to be a Christian!
A prominent Christian website says; The Bible says that “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral” (Hebrews 13:4). Scripture never says what a husband and wife are or are not allowed to do sexually. However, husbands and wives are not allowed to deprive each other of sexual activity! That’s biblical. There are some things that sound like fun that we’re not suppose to do. For example, The practice of “swapping,” or “swinging/swingers,” or “bringing in an extra” (threesomes, foursomes, etc.) is blatant adultery (Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3).
Adultery is sin. Pornography appeals to the “lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes” (1 John 2:16) There is nothing in Scripture that explicitly forbids a husband and wife from doing anything sexually they enjoy doing and agree to by mutual consent.
It appears that sex and the enjoyment thereof is not the issue that makes you a dirty old man or woman! Good to know. So, what does? Does a desire to have sex with someone that you are not married to make you a “dirty old man?” Be careful there! What about the biblical examples mentioned throughout the Old Testament of multiple wife’s and concubines? How many concubines would you like to have? Solomon had 700 wife’s and 300 concubines! 1,000 women under one roof, imagine that, how would you get to all of em? Dream on! Thinking about all of that probably makes you a dirty old man. 😊
The connotation of “DIRTY OLD MAN” strikes me as someone, male or female who is just plain perverted. Now, let’s ask what is perverted lifestyle? What is perverted sexual conduct? When I was growing up homosexuality would have been considered perversion. Sexual intercourse with a family member would have been perversion. In my hometown you wouldn’t have been very popular for trying to screw the pooch or your neighbors canary, either!
Perversion is anything aberrant, abnormal or unacceptable by societal norms. Here is one definition for you. What causes a person to be perverted? The underlying cause of acts of perversion has always been explained as the need for control and mastery in order to compensate for deep-seated feelings of sexual insecurity. I think perversion is just another name for sinful desires and behavior.
In speaking of perversion it may be noted that Webster’s Dictionary defines perversion as “a diverting from the true intent or purpose; a change to something worse; a turning or applying to a wrong end or use.” Anything can be perverted. Using opiates for non-medicinal purposes, for example, is a perversion of the poppy plant. In the Bible, the word translated “perversion” is used to define a deviation from righteousness in sexual behavior (Leviticus 18:23; Romans 1:27; Ephesians 4:19; Colossians 3:5), speech (Proverbs 10:31), or justice (Ecclesiastes 5:8). In each case, there are warnings against using for evil something that God created as good.
Satan trashes things. Every good thing that God created, Satan works to pervert. God created sexuality and called it good (Genesis 1:27-28, 31). The book of Proverbs has a lot to say about perverted speech. Our mouths were created to praise God, encourage each other, and speak truth (Psalm 19:14; 120:2; 141:3; Proverbs 12:22). Perverse speech occurs when we use the gift of speech for evil purposes such as cursing, gossiping, using foul language, coarse joking, and lying (Proverbs 10:18; 12:22; 16:27. Dirty old men, dirty old women are everywhere and perversion abounds. Undoubtedly, you will in some way be touched by the tentacles of it today. Don’t be afraid. Focus on this!
“You are my hiding place
You shall preserve me from trouble
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
Psalm 32:7
God is the strength that we need as residents in a perverted world full of DIRTY OLD MEN..
What do you think about topics like this?
Should Christians speak openly and freely about sex issues?
Russ
Talk openly however not in details of lovemaking, that’s personal. To endure “vulgar” talk and view openly displayed acts is wrong! As a young child this type of behavior can have a negative impact, either make you overly “loose” thinking that it is ok to act that way or very reserved because it traumatized you. I became reserved and am very uncomfortable when any discussion about sex comes up! It’s a fine line to be open about sex for me
